Centrally located in downtown Wilmington, DE, One Rodney Square has long attracted prominent law firms and other premier tenants. As part of a lease renewal with one lead tenant, Brandywine Realty Trust asked Granum A/I to redesign the main lobby creating a more contemporary aesthetic.

Granum removed the dark materials, built-in planters and low ceilings associated with the original building lobby. The new lobby expands vertically with a floating edge-lit ceiling element that defines the area and visually leads visitors to the elevators. The entrance to the elevator bank is now celebrated with a stainless steel portal. The security desk has been redesigned and repositioned to improve control over building access points. Seating areas have been arranged to allow several groups to meet or wait comfortably before or after appointments.

The palette comprises natural materials in subtle and sophisticated neutral tones. Both the feature wall and elevator lobby wall are composed of a series of highly textured white quartzite panels, illuminated to emphasize the beauty of the material. The floor is a subtly textured porcelain paver set in a running bond pattern. Furniture was selected to establish a tailored professional tone. Commissioned artwork provides a finishing touch.
