This confidential market research company is considering relocation to a former mill building in central New Jersey. The existing structure offers tremendous architectural potential for a company interested in promoting change in their workplace culture. In its current office space, the company's efforts at promoting collaboration are hindered by perimeter office planning in a long, narrow office suite.

The design team's goal is to celebrate the mill building's strong architectural characteristics, while creating a modern, invigorating office environment. This preliminary design scheme includes a new building entrance and adjacent outdoor dining area. New windows and glass garage doors extend the length of the building providing all occupants with equal access to views and daylight. Private offices and small enclosed meeting spaces are grouped beneath an existing low ceiling area while the high-bay center of the building is reserved for open team areas and flexible collaborative zones.

Available height from finished floor to the underside of existing trusses will allow for mezzanine construction. The new upper floor area is conceived as a retreat for casual staff interaction and informal teaming.
