Granum A/I's project at 800 Scudders Mill Road demonstrates that stripping the exterior of a building and re-cladding it can result in a more valuable and marketable asset. Working with our clients Ivy Equity and LCOR, Granum served as the building design architect to achieve a transformative re-positioning of the building including a completely new exterior skin and updated core areas – lobbies and toilet rooms – consistent with a premier office building. The project was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.

Dating back to the early 1980's the existing exterior of precast concrete panels and bronze ribbon windows was representative of the architectural design from that period but didn't allow natural light to penetrate the floor plates nor did it allow broad views of the richly landscaped grounds. We proposed removal of this façade that was replaced with a new enclosure combining glazed curtainwall with spandrel glass detailing at floor and roof lines and metal panels with a zinc-like finish to create a sophisticated contemporary exterior.

In addition a new two-story lobby was created at the main entrance by removing an existing mezzanine and moving the exterior wall out, to a point just beyond the existing columns. Full height glass walls front and back define the new lobby. A metal clad portal was added to provide weather protection. The entry drive has been reconfigured to include a new turn around, water feature, flag poles and a prominent element for corporate identity.
